If Ever I Would Lose Your Smile…

photo by Brandi Redd on UnSplash.com

First glance revealed your kindness in a
moment of attraction, alluring
dance of your eyes in shyness fleeting
spoke to me gently, soft, and tender
a sudden sense of what could be, an
appeal, a seduction touchingly
caressing emotions distant stilled
take a leap of faith, of course we can
~
Chemistry simmered, our hearts intrigued
drawn by a resident passion within
to live, to love, to touch the unknown
in voiceless allurement, hearts on fire
long and silken hair so flowingly
sensual, warm in chestnut splendour
our gaze ever wanting dared entice
a heart’s desire and warm embrace
~
First words stirring as open arms in
extended reaching, wonderlust as
explore gave way to discovery
enchantment wanton, love’s desire
drifting closer, acceptingly so
fingertips touch in the afterglow
of newfound love affectionately
alight, promising now and ever

    1. Thank you so much, Scott! Yes, I was drawn to the image given that it was not a full facial shot, therein a parallel with the mood and intention of this piece. I have to believe that for whatever the past has brought in our personal lives, remaining optimistic about a future relationship sets the tone for an inviting, accepting perspective moving forward. I know how beautiful it felt to attach to “that smile”, to feel its presence in my life, my being. I am resilient and will not crumble in the absence of another relationship someday, yet I do desire the oneness with another again, the companionship, the intimacy, the sharing. I wanted this piece to be highly relatable and there have been deeply personal and emotional responses to the words. Warmest regards as always, my friend.
